Lembert wins medalist honors, leads Men's Golf to second place finish at Owens C.C. Invitational

TOLEDO — Sophomore Brandon Lambert fired a 70 and won Medalist honors in a three-way playoff to lead the Ohio Northern men's golf team to a second place finish at the 10-team Owens Community College Invitational on Friday at Heather Downs Country Club.
Ohio Northern (20-14 overall) carded an 18-hole score of 292, which is the second-lowest in school history, six shots off of the school record 286 set last year at he Mount Union Fall Invitational.
Owens Community College won the tournament with a 287, while Oakland Community College and Cincinnati State Tech C.C. tied for third with 299s.
Lambert edged Brandon Hoelzer of Owens CC and Ben Torchia of Lourdes in a two-hole playoff to win medalist honors. All three men parred the first hole, and Lambert's par on the second hole gave him the title.
Sophomore Rick Deichert shot a 71 to finish tied for fourth out of 72 golfers, freshman Blaine Ricketts shot a 75 to tie for 14th and junior Andrew Quintrell shot a 76 fto tie for 24th or ONU.
The Polar Bears will wrap up their fall season Monday and Tuesday at the Taylor (Ind.) Invitational at Egypt Valley Golf Course in Ada, Mich.
