Deichert leads Men's Golf to runner-up finish at Kenyon Fall Invitational

MOUNT VERNON — Sophomore Rick Deichert finished runner-up individually, leading the Ohio Northern men's golf team to a runner-up finish at the Kenyon Fall Invitational Saturday and Sunday.

The first round was played at the Apple Valley Golf Club in Howard and Sunday's round was played at the Mount Vernon Country Club in Mount Vernon.

The Polar Bears (12-13 overall) finished with a 302-312—614 to finish second out of eight teams.

Allegheny (Pa.) won the team title with a 305-303—608, Kenyon was third with a 302-319—621 and Northwestern Ohio 308-323—631.

Deichert finished second out of 52 golfers with a 5-over par 149.

Freshman Blaine Ricketts was tied for third with a 76-74—150, sophomore Brandon Lambert tied for sixth with a 75-78—153 and junior Andrew Quintrell tied for 18th with a 78-74—162.

Allegheny's Oliver White won Medalist honors with a 74-71—145.

The Polar Bears will return to action Friday at the Owens Community College Fall Invitational.
