Burns, Wirtz each card 78s to lead Men's Golf to tri-match sweep of Saint Vincent (Pa.) and Marywood (Pa.)

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Juniors Colin Burns and Ryan Wirtz each carded 6-over par 78s on a cold and windy day to lead the Ohio Northern men's golf team to a tri-match victory over Saint Vincent (Pa.) and Marywood (Pa.) on Wednesday at the Dye Course at Bearfoot Resort.
The Polar Bears (33-9-1) finished with a 322, edging St. Vincent by eight strokes. Marywood wasa third with a 348.
Burns and Wirtz tied for Medalist honors among the 22 golfers in the match.
Northern completed the two-day sweep after winning a tri-match between the same three teams on Tuesday at the par-71 Fazio Course at Bearfoot.
Freshman Rick Deichert shot an 82 and freshman Brandon Lambert shot an 84 for ONU.
The Polar Bears will return to action March 23-24 at the Mount Saint Joseph Spring Invitational.
