Freshman Giovanni Scanio sets school 4-game series record as Men's Bowling finishes seventh of 17 teams at Ohio Bowling Conference meet No. 2

COLUMBUS — Freshman Giovanni Scanio (Corpus Christi, Tex./London) rolled a school record 4-game series of 863 to lead the Ohio Northern men's bowling team to a seventh place finish out of 17 teams at the Ohio Bowling Conference II tournament on Saturday.

• Ohio Northern finished seventh of 17 teams with 5,601 pins.
• Venue: Palace Lanes - Columbus, Ohio.
• Northern was eighth of 17 teams after the four individual games, knocking down a school record 3,990 pins for an average of 199.5 per game.
• The Polar Bears also set a school record with a 1,082 total in game two.
• ONU then knocked down 1,611 pins in 8 baker games to finish third among all teams in the category.
• That total included a school record 242, to finish with an average of 201.4 per game.

• Freshman Andrew Knight (West Liberty/Riverside) led the Polar Bears with a 4-game series of 779.
• Freshman Samuel King (DeGraff/Riverside) rolled an 814.
• Freshman Jake Manbevers (Greenfield/Miami Trace) had a 777.

Notables

• Ohio Northern averaged 200 pins per game for the tournament, which is also a school record.
• Ohio State won the team title with 6,010 pins.
• Muskingum was second with 5920, Wright State was third with 5860 and Northwestern Ohio was fourth with 5768.
• This was the fourth of 10 events for Ohio Northern in its second season.
• Second-year head coach Jeff Robinson leads the Polar Bears.
