Caban, Dunbar lead Men's Bowling on Day 1 of Lehigh Valley Collegiate Classic

WHITEHALL, Pa. — The Ohio Northern men's bowling team closed out Day 1 of the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Classic in 26th place on Wednesday.
The Basics
- Ohio Northern finished 26th of 28 teams with 4,113 pins on Day 1 of the competition, which consisted of five team games.
- Venue: Jordan Lanes — Whitehall, Pa.
The Tournament
- ONU currently sits ahead of Millersville University (3,896) and Rutgers (2,980) and is just 15 pins behind 25th-place Schenectady County Community College.
- Muskingum leads the event after Day 1 with 5,366 pins.
- Individually, freshman Nolan Caban (Dayton/Centerville) led the Polar Bears on Day 1 with 870 pins through five games. He posted a high game of 217 with an average game of 174 and placed 73rd of 195 bowlers.
- Freshman Lukas Dunbar (Orient/Teays Valley) placed 75th with 865 pins through five games. He posted a high game of 206 and averaged 173.
- Senior Alex Sommers (Carlisle) placed 84th with 785 pins in five games. He had a high game of 207 and averaged 157.
Notables
- This was the third of four days for the Polar Bears competing in two events in Pennsylvania.
- The Polar Bears placed 27th of 29 teams at the two-day Roto Grip Keystone Quaker Classic at Haja Rose Bowl in Allentown, Pa., on Monday and Tuesday.
- First-year head coach Jeff Robinson leads the Polar Bears.
