Maag scores a career-high 18, but Men's Basketball falls at Heidelberg 75-67 in the Quarterfinals of the OAC Tournament

TIFFIN — Sophomore Theo Maag (Ottawa/Ottawa-Glandorf) had a career-high 18 points to lead the Ohio Northern men's basketball team in a 75-67 loss at Heidelberg in the quarterfinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament on Tuesday night.
The Basics:
- Records: Ohio Northern (14-12 Overall), Heidelberg (17-9 Overall).
- Venue: Sieberling Gymnasium— Tiffin, Ohio.
The Game
- Maag scored 18 points and tied his career high with nine rebounds to lead four Polar Bears in double figures in scoring.
- Sophomore Carter Reese (Westerville/North) scored the first eight of his 12 points of the contest on a pair of 4-point plays after getting fouled while making a 3-pointer.
- Junior Will Miller (Ottoville) added 11 points.
- Sophomore Jadi Cunningham Jr. (Columbus/Westerville South) had 10 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.
- The Student Princes were led by Manny Hill with 19 points.
- ONU used a 8-0 run to take its first lead of the night at 55-54 with 9:04 left in the game.
- Maag scored to tie the game at 61-all with 4:29 left.
- HU answered with a 6-0 run to lead 67-61 with 2:46 to go.
- Miller hit a three and Maag scored inside off a feed from Cunningham, Jr., to get ONU within 67-66 with 1:41 remaining.
- But Heidelberg would make a three-pointer at the 1:15 mark and would make 5-of-6 free throws down the stretch to put the game away.
- Ohio Northern was 27-of-64 from the field for 42.2 percent and made 8-of-31 three-pointers for 25.8 percent, while Heidelberg finished 24-of-51 from the floor for 47.1 percent and 4-of-9 from three-point range for 44.4 percent.
- ONU made 5-of-10 free throws for 50.0 percent and HU was 23-of-27 from the foul line for 85.2 percent.
- The Student Princes out-rebounded the Polar Bears 35-33.

- Ohio Northern was the No. 6 seed and Heidelberg was the No. 3 seed in the 6-team OAC Tournament.
- Ohio Northern leads the all-time series between the two schools by a 109-72 margin. ONU is 48-34 in games played in Tiffin and is 7-7 against HU in the OAC Tournament.
- Heidelberg won both regular season games this year, 79-65 in Ada on 2/12 and 77-69 in Tiffin on 1/22.
