Carter Reese scores 25 points as Men's Basketball falls just short at Baldwin Wallace 69-67 in OAC opener

BEREA — The Ohio Northern men's basketball team's late game comeback against OAC opponent Baldwin Wallace fell just short as it dropped a 69-67 decision on a late basket.

The Basics

• Records: Ohio Northern (4-2 Overall, 0-1 OAC), Baldwin Wallace (3-2 Overall, 1-0 OAC).

• Sophomore Carter Reese (Columbus/Westerville North) led the Polar Bears in scoring with 25 points. 
• Sophomore Cayden Jacoby (Pettisville) added 14 points. 
• Sophomore Jadi Cunningham Jr. (Columbus/Westerville South) added 13 points and grabbed 7 rebounds to go with it.
• Ray Ellington led the Yellow Jackets with 19.
• A 7-2 run would build a lead for the Polar Bears at 25-18 with 4:36 remaining in a closely contested first half. 
• Baldwin Wallace would respond with a 13-4 run of their own to end the half, taking the lead 31-29.
• The Yellow Jackets would build their lead with a 15-6 run to start the half, making the score 46-35.
• With 3:49 remaining the Polar Bears would score 8 unanswered points to tie the game on two made Cunningham Jr. free throws at 67-67.
• BWU would retake the lead on the next possession with 13 seconds remaining.
• Northern would have two looks, a layup by Reese that was blocked and a three pointer by Reese but would not be able to convert. 
• Ohio Northern was 24-of-58 from the floor for 41.4 percent and made 3-19 three-pointers for 15.8 percent, while Baldwin Wallace finished 26-of-54 from the field for 48.1 percent and 7-of-17 from three-point range for 41.2 percent.
• ONU made 16-of-22 free throws for 72.7 percent and BWU was 10-of-16 from the foul line for 62.5 percent.
• The Polar Bears out rebounded the Yellow Jackets 36-32.
