Men's Basketball wraps up season with with 70-55 win against Muskingum on Senior Day

ADA — Freshman Carter Reese (Westerville/North) scored a game-high 16 points for the Ohio Northern men's basketball team as it wrapped up its season with a 70-55 win against Muskingum on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon.

- Reese also grabbed six rebounds and forced two turnovers.
- Freshman Jadi Cunningham Jr. (Columbus/Westerville South) nearly had a triple-double for the second consecutive game, finishing with 13 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists.
- Freshman Cayden Jacoby (Pettisville) put up 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
- Sophomore Will Miller (Ottoville) added eight points, snagged three rebounds and forced two turnovers.
- Sophomore Mason Studer (Galion/Colonel Crawford) scored seven points off the bench
- Senior Carson Conley (Newark/Licking Valley) finished his last game with five points and three rebounds.
- Owen Emig led the Fighting Muskies with 11 points.
- The Polar Bears went on a 15-6 run at 11:11 to break a 9-9 tie in the first half.
- That run gave Northern the momentum to outscore Muskingum 32-28 going into halftime.
- ONU continued to lead starting the second half with a 17-8 run.
- With :19 to play, junior Blake Michael (Fremont/St. Joseph Central Catholic) stole the ball for a fast-break dunk finishing the game 70-55.
- Ohio Northern was 27-of-67 from the floor for 40.3 percent and made 5-of-19 three-pointer for 26.3 percent, while Muskingum finished 22-of-52 from the field for 42.3 percent and 5-of-17 from three-point range for 29.4 percent.
- ONU made 11-of-13 free throws for 84.6 percent and MU was 6-of-11 from the foul line for 54.5 percent.
- The Polar Bears out-rebounded the Fighting Muskies 47-24.
Notables
- Northern finished seventh in the 10-team league, just out of contention to qualify for the OAC Tournament.
- Reese's 16-point game makes this his 21st game to score double digits this season.
- Cunningham Jr.'s 13-point game makes this his 17th game to score double digits and his fifth double-double this season.
- Cunningham Jr. continues to add to his freshman single-season record of 61 steals and 132 assists.
- Ohio Northern is now 77-60 all-time against Muskingum, including a 43-17 mark in Ada.
- Ohio Northern finished its 113th season of varsity men's basketball and has a record of 1371-1076, a winning percentage of .560.
