Balanced offense leads Men's Basketball to 69-63 victory at Alma (Mich.)

ALMA, Mich. — The Ohio Northern men's basketball team had five players score in double figures and posted a 69-63 victory at Alma (Mich.) on Saturday at the Art Smith Arena.

- Freshman Jadi Cunningham Jr. (Columbus/Westerville South) scored 13 points to lead ONU in scoring.
- Sophomores Will Miller (Ottoville) and Mason Studer (Galion/Colonel Crawford) and freshman Carter Reese (Westerville/North) each added 11 points and freshman Cayden Jacoby (Pettisville) chipped in 10 points for the Polar Bears.
- Miller also grabbed a team-high 9 rebounds, while junior Blake Michael (Fremont/St. Joseph Central Catholic) scored six points and grabbed eight rebounds.
- The Scots were led by Connor Riley with 20 points.
- Northern trailed 57-54, but back-to-back layups by Cunningham gave ONU the lead for good 58-57 with 4:24 left in the game.
- A basket by sophomore Hayden Hanson (Cedarville) made it 60-57 with 3:40 left and a basket by Miller extended the lead to 62-58 with 2:18 remaining.
- Jacoby scored with 1:01 to go and Northern led 64-60.
- Studer made a pair of free throws with 31 seconds left to extend the lead to 66-61.
- Miller then iced the game with a pair of free throws at the 12 second mark.
- Ohio Northern made 24-of-48 field goal attempts for 50.0%, including a 3-of-16 mark from 3-point range for 18.8%.
- Alma was 27-of-64 shooting for 42.2% and made 2-of-19 3-pointers for 10.5%.
- ONU was 18-of-20 from the foul line for an impressive 90.0%, and AC was 7-of-10 for 70.0%.
- The Polar Bears out-rebounded the Scots 36-22.
