Men's Basketball drops tight 68-67 decision to Oberlin on late basket

ADA — Oberlin scored the go-ahead basket with 7.6 seconds left and held off a last second shot to edge the Ohio Northern men's basketball team 68-67 on Tuesday evening at the ONU Sports Center.

- Freshman Cayden Jacoby (Pettisville) scored 12 points and freshmen Carter Reese (Westerville/North) and Jadi Cunningham Jr. (Columbus/Westerville South) added 11 points each for ONU.
- Sophomore Will Miller (Ottoville) added eight points and a game-high 9 rebounds for Ohio Northern.
- The Yeomen were led by Asaan Snipes-Rea with 13 points.
- Northern opened up a 62-53 lead with 4:50 left in the game on a putback by Reese.
- Oberlin would score the next seven points to get within 62-60, but a 3-pointer by freshman Noah Langford (Perrysburg/Toledo Central Catholic) made it 65-60 with 3:04 to go.
- Langford extended the lead to 67-60 with a putback at the 2:00 mark of the contest.
- The Yeomen would score on its final four possessions, including the go-ahead basket by J.J. Gray with 7.6 seconds to go.
- After an ONU timeout, senior Carson Conley (Newark/Licking Valley) got a clean look at a 3-pointer just ahead of the buzzer, but the shot bounced off and the visitors held on for the win.
- Ohio Northern made 24-of-58 field goal attempts for 41.4%, including a 7-of-25 mark from 3-point range for 28.0%.
- Oberlin was 28-of-55 shooting for 50.9% and made 5-of-12 3-pointers for 41.7%.
- ONU was 12-of-18 from the foul line for 66.7%, and OC was 7-of-13 for 53.8%.
- The Yeomen out-rebounded the Polar Bears 34-31, but ONU had a 17-12 edge in assists.
