Napier scores 23, Scott adds 20 as Men's Basketball tops Wilmington 79-62

ADA — Senior C.J. Napier (Miamisburg/Bishop Fenwick) scored 23 points and senior Adam Scott (Wapakoneta) added 20 points to lead the Ohio Northern men's basketball team to a 79-62 victory over Wilmington on Thursday night at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 9-9 overall and 5-6 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Quakers fall to 5-13, 1-10.
Napier finished with his 19th career double-double, adding a game-high 10 rebounds to his 23-points.
WC was led by Abdul Kanu with 21 points.
Northern opened the second half on a 16-4 run, grabbing at 56-42 lead with 6:43 into the period.
A 7-0 run, capped by a layup by sophomore Carson Conley (Newark/Licking Valley) to extend the lead to 70-53 with 4:35 remaining.
Senior Landen Long (Mason) chipped in 10 points and freshman Will Miller (Ottoville) scored nine points and had a career-high nine rebounds for ONU.
Ohio Northern made 27-of-55 field goal attempts for 49.1 percent and was 6-of-16 from 3-point range for 37.5 percent, while Wilmington made 24-of-58 field goals for 41.4 percent and was 4-of-19 from beyond the arc for 21.1 percent.
ONU was 19-of-26 from the free-throw line for 73.1 percent, and WC was 10-of-14 for 71.4 percent.
Northern out-rebounded the Quakers by a 37-31 margin.
The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday at 2 p.m. against No. 3-ranked Mount Union in the first game of a men's/women's double header at the ONU Sports Center.
