ALLIANCE — Junior C.J. Napier (Miamisburg/Bishop Fenwick) scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Ohio Northern men's basketball team in a 93-71 loss at No. 11-ranked Mount Union on Saturday afternoon at the MAAC.
The Polar Bears fall to 8-9 overall and 2-8 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Purple Raiders improve to 16-2, 9-2.
Freshman Blake Michael (Fremont/St. Joseph Central Catholic) added a career-high 10 points off the bench for ONU.
Michael Skerotis led Mount Union with 21 points.
The Pioneers led by as many as 20 points in the opening half and were up 49-34 at halftime.
Ohio Northern made 29-of-60 field goals for 48.3% and was 4-of-15 from 3-point range for 26.7%, while the Purple Raiders made 34-of-60 field goals for 56.7% and were 12-of-21 from beyond the arc for 57.1%.
UMU out-rebounded ONU by a 36-28 margin.
The Polar Bears return to the court on Wednesday at 7 p.m. when they play host to Otterbein.
