Short-handed Men's Basketball falls to Baldwin Wallace

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's basketball team came into Wednesday night's game with Baldwin Wallace missing four starters and eight players overall due to COVID-19 protocols.
The visiting Yellow Jackets took advantage of the short-handed Polar Bear roster and posted a 92-65 victory at the ONU Sports Center.
ONU falls to 7-5 overall and is 1-4 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while BWU improves to 8-4, 3-2.
Junior Grant Heileman (Millersport/Sheridan) scored a season-high 15 points, while junior Landen Long (Mason) and freshman Garrett Chapin (Norwalk) added 12 points each for Ohio Northern.
Baldwin Wallace was led by Drew Wennes with 19 points.
BW scored the game's first eight points and did not trail in the contest.
A jumper by Chapin got ONU within 13-12 with 12:02 left before the half, but the visitors would answer with an 11-0 run to go ahead 24-12 at the 8:54 mark of the first half.
An 18-2 run extended the lead to 49-22 and BW held a 58-28 lead at intermission.
Ohio Northern made 25-of-54 field goals for 46.3 percent and was 6-of-10 from 3-point range for 60.0 percent.
Baldwin Wallace was 37-of-64 from the floor for 57.8 percent and made 10-of-20 from beyond the arc for 50.0 percent.
ONU won the rebounding battle 29-27, but committed 20 turnovers to just 10 for BW.
The Polar Bears will return to action Saturday afternoon at Muskingum.
