Bio

Tracy Smith is in his second season of his third stint with the Polar Bear program in a part-time role assisting the Tight Ends.

Smith first arrived at ONU in 1994 as a graduate assistant where he was responsible for coaching Tight Ends and assisting with special teams.

He returned again in a part-time role assisting with Linebackers during the 2008 season that produced All-OAC honors players.

Smith’s other coaching roles have included professional indoor football as a head coach and general manager.

Additionally, Smith has served as a defensive coordinator, offensive line coach, defensive line coach, defensive backs, wide receivers, and running-backs at various high schools. Smith also works with the Detroit Lions Football Education Department assisting with the operations of youth football camps and game day experiences for youth players.

Smith earned a Master’s of Education degree in the spring of 2022 from Capella University. He earned his Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Defiance College in 1994 where he was a member of the football team as a Tight End.

He was also a member of the track and field team in three different events, currently ranking in the top 10 for the javelin at Defiance.

Coach Smith currently serves as an intervention specialist for Marion Harding High School. He resides in Marion with his wife Jodi and daughters Taryn, and Torey.
