Bio
Matt Simon is in his first season as an assistant football coach at Ohio Northern in 2024 and will serve as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Simon has 46 years of coaching experience at the NFL, college and high school levels.
He is one of only 10 coaches to have won a Super Bowl (Denver, Super Bowl XXXIII - 1999) and an NCAA FBS National Championship (Washington, 1991) as a coach.
He comes to Ohio Northern after two seasons as a defensive and speial teams analyst at Big 10 member Maryland in 2022-23.
Simon served as head coach at North Texas for four seasons in 1994-97, becoming only the 10th African American to lead a Division I-A football squad.
He was offensive coordinator at FBC New Mexico in 1992-93 and at Delaware in FCS from 2017-18.
Simon spent nine seasons as a running backs coach in the NFL, spending time with the Baltimore Ravens from 1999-05 and the San Diego Chargers in 2007-08.
He also had assistant coach stints at Buffalo, Texas-El Paso and Eastern New Mexico in the NCAA and at the prep level at Gilmour Academy and Borger H.S. (Tex.)
Simon had a four-year career as a linebacker at Eastern New Mexico from 1972-75 before beginning his career as a graduate assistant coach there in 1977.
He earned a bachelor's abd master's degree from Eastern New Mexico.
