Pettaway eclipses 1,000-yard rushing mark as Football wraps up 2024 campaign with 47-15 victory at Otterbein

WESTERVILLE — Sophomore Jordan Pettaway (Oregon/Clay) eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the season as the Ohio Northern football team wrapped up its 2024 season with a 47-15 victory at Otterbein on Saturday afternoon.
The Basics

The Game
- Pettaway rushed 23 times for 141 yards and a score to lead the Polar Bears.
- He finished the season with 1,003 yards on 121 attempts, an impressive average of 8.3 yards per carry.
- Junior Louie Blasiole (Mantua/Crestwood) ran 26 times for 124 yards and three touchdowns.
- Senior Brennon Norris (Steubenville/Indian Creek) completed 9-of-15 passes for 209 yards and a touchdown and ran six times for 16 yards and another score.

- Trailing 9-7 late in the second quarter, Northern would score 40 unanswered points to put the game away.
- Senior Jonmichael Elliott (Richmond, Va./Clover Hill) kicked a 33-yard field goal with :26 left in the second quarter to give ONU a 10-9 lead at intermission.
- Norris scored on a 1 yard run on ONU's first possession of the second half to make it 17-9 just 1:48 into the half.
- Pettaway scored from 4 yards out and is was 24-9 with 6:19 left in the third.
- Blasiole busted up the middle for a 59-yard TD run and it was 30-9 with 3:49 left in the third.
- Elliott ran in the 2-point conversion try to make it 32-9.
- Blasiole scored from 3 yards out on the first play of the fourth quarter, then ran in with the 2-point conversion to extend the lead to 40-9.
- Norris then hit sophomore Kyle Celestin (Miami, Fla./Surge Academy) on a 6-yard pass with 6:24 to put ONU up 47-9.
- The Polar Bears out-gained the Cardinals in total offense 468-197, including a 259-5 advantage on the ground.

- Pettaway becomes the 18th player in ONU history to rush for 1,000 yards in a single season.
- ONU leads the series between the two schools by a 46-19 margin, including a 21-7 mark in Westerville.
- Northern has now won 12 consecutive games in the series.
