Late 2-point conversion attempt goes awry as Football drops 27-26 decision at Baldwin Wallace

BEREA — Ohio Northern scored with 1:02 left in the game, but had its 2-point conversion pass intercepted as Baldwin Wallace held on for a 27-26 football victory on Saturday afternoon.

The Game
- Senior Brennon Norris (Steubenville/Indian Creek) hit sophomore Seth Borondy (Bellbrook) on a 17-yard touchdown pass on a 4th and 10 play with 1:02 left to pull the Polar Bears within 27-26.
- Norris' ensuing 2-point conversion pass was intercepted to keep the score at 27-26.
- BW then recovered the onside kick and ran out the clock.
- Junior Louie Blasiole (Mantua/Crestwood) ran 20 times for a season-high 159 yards and a score.
- Sophomore Jordan Pettaway (Oregon/Clay) ran 10 times for 73 yards, including a 58-yard TD scamper.
- Trailing 7-0, junior Sam Feldman (Springboro) scored on a 2-yard run to tie the game at 7-7 with 5:09 left in the first quarter.
- Pettaway then raced in from 58 yards out with 9:55 left in the second period as Northern led 14-7 at intermission.
- The Polar Bears then marched 65 yards in 7 plays on its first possession of the third quarter and went up 20-7 on Blasiole's 18-yard TD run.
- The Yellow Jackets scored touchdowns on three consecutive drives to grab a 27-20 lead with 5:09 left in the game.
- Northern then marched 75 yards in 10 plays for its Norris to Borondy score with 1:02 left.
- Baldwin Wallace was led by Charlie Bubonic, who was 16-for-23 passing for 183 yards and a TD.
- Defensively, senior All-American Dalton Tjong (Cumming, Ga./West Forsyth) had nine tackles for ONU.
- The Polar Bears out-gained the Yellow Jackets in total offense 318-288, including a 282-105 advantage on the ground.
