Release: Football celebrates Homecoming with 59-3 victory over Wilmington

ADA — Ohio Northern celebrated Homecoming Weekend with a 59-3 victory over Wilmington on an overcast Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (3-0 Overall, 2-0 OAC), Wilmington (0-4 Overall, 0-3 OAC)

The Game
- Ohio Northern rolled up 399 yards rushing and had three backs with 97 or more yards.
- Sophomore Jordan Pettaway (Oregon/Clay) ran 12 times for 149 yards and a touchdown.
- Sophomore Seth Borondy (Bellbrook) ran 25 times for 126 yards and two touchdowns and caught an 11-yard touchdown pass to account for three scores.
- Junior Louie Blasiole (Mantua/Crestwood) ran 15 times for 97 yards and two touchdowns.
- Fifth-year senior Brennon Norris (Steubenville/Indian Creek) was 7-for-12 passing for 86 yards and a score and ran four times for 15 yards and a touchdown.
- Ohio Northern was in control throughout the contest, scoring two touchdowns in the first 3:02 of the game to take a quick 14-0 lead.
- Northern scored 28 first quarter points, led 38-0 at halftime and 59-0 after three quarters.
- Senior Jonmichael Elliott (Richmond, Va./Clover Hill) made a 33-yard field goal, was 8-for-8 on PATs, punted three times for a 42.3-yard average and had 10 kickoffs for a 61.3 average and two touchbacks.
- Blasiole ran in from 19 yards out on the Polar Bears' first possession to make it 7-0 just 2:46 into the game.
- On the next snap from scrimmage, sophomore Roney Bordes (Miami, Fla./Norland) had a 34-yard pick-6 and it was 14-0.
- Pettaway then scored on a 16-yard run with 7:41 left in the first quarter and it was 21-0.
- Blasiole Banged in from 3 yards out to make it 28-0 with 1:55 left in the opening period.
- Defensively, junior Kolten Berner (Springfield/Northwestern) had a team-high 7 tackles and a sack for ONU.
- The Polar Bears out-gained the Quakers in total offense 485-103.
Notables
- Andy Fries is in his first season as head coach at ONU with a 3-0 record.
- Fries' 3-0 start is the best among ONU's first-year head coaches since the Stadium's namesake, Arden "Stretch" Roberson, started his first season as head coach at Ohio Northern with a 6-0 mark in 1960.
- ONU leads the series between the two schools by a 33-4 margin and has won five straight games in the series. ONU leads the series 18-2 at home and is 11-0 at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
- The game was part of Ohio Northern's Homecoming festivities, with ONU holding a 4-0 series lead v WC in Homecoming games.
- This was Ohio Northern's 100th Homecoming Game. ONU has now won 17 of its last 27 Homecoming games and is 52-44-4 all-time during Homecoming Weekend.
