By Wes Mayberry
ADA — Ohio Northern junior Dalton Tjong (Cumming, Ga./West Forsyth) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 1-3.
This marks Tjong's first career OAC Player of the Week honor.
The recognition comes after Tjong tallied 22 total tackles (12 solo and 10 assisted) to go with one tackle for loss and two forced fumbles in the Polar Bears' 52-7 loss at No. 24 Alma (Mich.) on Saturday.
He finished one tackle shy of tying the school record for tackles in a game, which belongs to Brad Lohr, who made 23 tackles at Dayton in the 2000 season.
The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday for their 2023 home opener against OAC foe Capital at 1:30 p.m.
