Eight Polar Bears named Academic All-District in Football by College Sports Communicators

ADA — Eight Ohio Northern student-athletes were named Academic All-District in football for 2022 by the College Sports Communicators.
Seniors Zach George (Utica/Northridge), Brock Martin (Attica/Seneca East), Nick Tangeman (Maria Stein/Marion Local) and Cordell Wyatt (Ashland), juniors Noah Miller (Coldwater), Connor Rowe (Mantua/Crestwood) and Peyton Wilson (Lima/Shawnee) and sophomore Dalton Tjong (Cumming, Ga./West Forsyth) all received the honor.
George is a three-year starter at center and has started the last 23 games. He is a two-time Academic All-OAC honoree and is making his first appearance on the Academic All-District team.
Martin is an All-American and Academic All-American as a running back and utility player. He has started a school record 44 consecutive games in his 5-year career.
This is his second Academic All-District honor.
He had 550 rushing yards this season and ended his career ranked 11th all-time in ONU history with 2,410 rushing yards and ninth all-time with 3,719 all-purpose yards.
Tangeman has played in 20 games at receiver over the past two seasons with seven catches for 98 yards and two touchdowns.
He also has eight special teams tackles in his career and is making his first appearance on the Academic All-District team.
Wyatt has started all 34 games at right tackle in his four seasons as a Polar Bear. This is his first Academic All-District honor and he was named Academic All-OAC as a junior in 2021.
Miller was named Honorable Mention All-Conference as a freshman at tight end in 2020 and is making his first appearance on the Academic All-District team.
He will enter his senior season with 39 catches for 348 yards and has started all 24 games at tight end in his career.
Rowe has played in 13 games at defensive end and this is his first Academic All-District honor.
He has 24 tackles with 2.5 sacks and 5.0 TFL in his career and is also an Academic All-Conference honoree.
Wilson is a three-year starter at linebacker. He is an Academic All-Conference award winner and is making his first appearance on the Academic All-District team.
In his 24-game career, Wilson has 167 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 10.5 TFL and six PBUs.
Tjong was named Second Team All-OAC at safety this season and is making his first appearance on the Academic All-District team.
He led the OAC with 110 tackles this fall in his first full season as a starter.
He has 169 tackles, 4 interceptions and eight PBUs in his career.
The Polar Bears went 3-7 and finished seventh in the OAC with a 3-6 league record this season under 18th-year head coach Dean Paul.
