ADA — The Ohio Northern football team fell to No. 2-ranked Mount Union 45-0 on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Polar Bears fall to 1-4 overall and are 1-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Purple Raiders improve to 4-0, 3-0.
MtU receiver Wayne Ruby caught TD passes of 11, 14 and 9 yards as the visitors led 21-0 1:18 into the second quarter.
The lead was 31-0 at halftime and 38-0 after three quarters.
Sophomore Dalton Tjong (Cumming, Ga./West Forsyth) had a career-high 15 tackles to lead the ONU defense.
Sophomore Jonmichael Elliott (Richmond, Va./Clover Hill) punted 10 times for a 40.6-yard average, which included bombs of 74 and 62 yards.
Mount Union out-gained Ohio Northern 506-66 in total offense.
The Polar Bears will return to action Oct. 15 with a 1:30 pm contest against John Carroll at Dial-Roberson Stadium
