Josh Bever named OAC Football Defensive Player of the Week

ADA — Ohio Northern senior defensive lineman Josh Bever (Ashland) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 5-11.
In ONU's 28-13 win at Capital on Saturday, Bever finished with a team-high nine tackles, 2.5 sacks and one forced fumble as the Polar Bear defense held the Comets to 34 rushing yards and 182 yards of total offense.
Bever, a three-time All-OAC honoree, currently leads the Polar Bears with 16 total tackles through two games. That total is tied for sixth in the conference.
His 3.5 tackles for loss are tied for fourth-best in the OAC, and his 2.5 sacks are tied for third.
The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday for a 7 p.m. game at Heidelberg.
