Football rolls to 56-7 victory over Otterbein

ADA —Ohio Northern scored in all three phases of the game and rolled to a 56-7 Ohio Athletic Conference football victory on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Polar Bears improve to 3-1 overall and are 2-1 in the OAC, while the Cardinals fall to 0-4, 0-3.
Senior Brody Hahn (Louisville) completed 21-of-31 passes for 312 yards and five touchdowns and ran six times for 23 yards to lead the ONU offense.
Senior Austin Eick (Rossford) caught three of those TD passes, scoring on receptions of 71, 13 and 12 yards. He finished the day with eight catches for 158 yards.
Junior Jack DiMario (Dayton/Alter) caught six passes for 62 yards and junior Jette Morgan (Wooster) caught three passes for 74 yards and two scores.
"We took advantage of some big plays," ONU head coach Dean Paul said. "There were several momentum swings that went in our favor. It was a solid, total team effort. We got many guys in the game and had a good all-around day."
Bryce Hall was 19-of-31 passing for 212 yards and a score for OU.
Northern scored on its first four possessions to grab a 28-0 lead.
Morgan hauled in a 20-yard pass from Hahn with 3:42 gone in the contest to make it 7-0.
Senior All-American Brock Martin (Attica/Seneca East) scored on a 26-yard run with 6:50 left in the quarter and it was 14-0.
Hahn then found Eick on TDs of 71 and 13 yards as Northern led 28-0 with 5:40 left in the half.
Northern took a 28-7 lead into intermission.
Otterbein lined up for a 22-yard field goal, but junior Jake Bever (Ashland) broke through the line and blocked the kick.
Junior Nick Tangeman (Maria Stein/Marion Local) scooped up the ball and raced 94 yards for a touchdown and 35-7 Polar Bear lead six minutes into the second half.
Hahn then hit Eick on a 12-yard touchdown pass and it was 42-7 ONU after three quarters of play.
Morgan caught a 39-yard TD pass from Hahn and Northern led 49-7 with 11:19 left.
Senior defensive end Justin Taylor (Lake Park, Fla/Pam Beach Gardens) got into the action when he batted a pass up in the air, caught the ball and rumbled in from 40 yards out with 4:52 to play to cap the scoring
Freshman Dalton Tjong (Cumming, Ga./West Forsyth) had a career-high nine tackles to lead the Ohio Northern defense.
Ohio Northern out-gained OU in total offense 425-422.
The Polar Bears will return to action Saturday afternoon with a 1:30 pm contest at home with Marietta on Homecoming Weekend at ONU.
