WILMINGTON — Senior Brody Hahn (Louisville) threw for a school record 502 yards and seven touchdowns to lead Ohio Northern to a 62-27 victory at Wilmington in an Ohio Athletic Conference football contest on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Williams Stadium.
The Polar Bears improve to 2-1 overall and are 1-1 in the OAC, while the Quakers fall to 0-2, 0-1.
Hahn was 18-of-25 passing for 351 yards and a school record six touchdowns in the first half alone as ONU led 42-0 at halftime. He finished the day 29-of-49 for 502 yards and seven scores and became the first Polar Bear in school history to eclipse the 500-yard passing mark in a game.
Hahn hit senior senior Chase Rose (Kenton/Upper Scioto Valley) on TD passes of 36 and 56 yards and James McDougald (Bowie, Md./Bridge Tutorial) for 38 yards as ONU led 21-0 after the first quarter.
Hahn then went to senior Austin Eick (Rossford) for touchdowns strikes of 59 and 2 yards and sophomore Jette Morgan (Wooster) for a 9-yard score in the second period as the Polar Bears led 42-0 at halftime.
Northern scored on its first possession of the second half when Hahn hit sophomore Noah Miller (Coldwater) on a 7-yard TD pass and it was 49-0 with 1:33 gone in the quarter.
Senior All-American Brock Martin (Attica/Seneca East) made it 56-21 with a 5-yard TD run with 6:26 left in the game.
Hahn's seven touchdown passes is the most for an Ohio Northern quarterback since Joe Zarlinga threw nine touchdown passes in a 70-39 win at Capital on Nov. 14, 1998.
It also marks the seventh time as ONU quarterback has thrown for 400 yards and bettered his previous school record, a 463-yard effort on April 9, 2021 at Heidelberg. His 29 completions also tied his own school record, also against Heidelberg last spring.
The 503-yard effort also put Hahn over the 7,000-yard passing mark for his career. He threw for 4,877 yards in three seasons as the starter at Muskingum and has 2,182 passing yards in just seven games as a Polar Bear for 7,058 in his career.
Junior Jamir Nunley (Cleveland/Mayfield) scored on a 70-yard run with 3:54 left to cap the scoring.
Rose finished the day with five receptions for 145 yards and Eick caught seven passes for 129 yards.
Senior Johnny Rupp (Maumee/Anthony Wayne) had 10 tackles to lead the Ohio Northern defense.
ONU out-gained WC in total offense 650-332.
The Polar Bears will return to action Saturday afternoon with a 1:30 pm contest at home with Otterbein.
