Last Year's Meeting: All-American RB Christiaan Williams became ONU's all-time career rushing leader in a 34-28 Bendekovic Bowl victory over Heidelberg on a chilly Saturday at Dial-Roberson Stadium. QB Anthony McFadden accounted for ONU's other four touchdowns, including the game-winner on a 12-yard run with 38 seconds left that broke a 28-all tie. He was 17-of-27 passing for a season-high 346 yards and two scores and ran 21 times for 71 yards and two scores, giving him 417 yards of total offense. ONU out-gained HU 579-509, as the two teams combined for 1,088 yards of total offense.
ONU Last Week: Ohio Northern built a 35-3 third quarter lead and held off a furious rally to post a 35-22 victory over Wilmington at Dial-Roberson Stadium. QB Brody Hahn ran for a 42-yard touchdown and threw for four more scores as ONU built a 35-3 lead with 5:23 left in the third quarter. Northern out-gained Wilmington 406-345 in total offense despite the visitors holding a 95-60 advantage in plays.
ONU Leaders: The Ohio Northern running game is led by All-American RB Brock Martin (42 att, 183 yards, 1 TD) and QB Brody Hahn (19 att, 163 yards, 3 TDs). QB Brody Hahn is 28-for-52 passing for 501 yards and 4 TDs. WR Austin Eick (7 rec, 111 yards, 1 TD) and WR Chase Rose (5 rec, 125 yards, 2 TDs) lead the receivers. LB Peyton Wilson, DL Josh Bever and LB Johnny Rupp lead the defense with 18, 15 and 13 tackles, respectively. Bever leads the team with 3.0 sacks and 5.0 TFL. Junior All-American RB Brock Martin ran 18 times for 71 yards. DE Nichal Johnson had 10 tackles, 5.5 TFL and 2 sacks to lead the ONU defense.
HU Preview: The Student Princes honored their late teammate Curtis Helman with a 44-14 win at Otterbein. "I'm so proud of these young men … not for the victory, just for the fact that they played," said Head Coach Scott Donaldson. "They played in honor of Curtis, and they played like he would have. All out." A moment of silence was observed in honor of Helman, who passed away from injuries sustained in an ATV accident last weekend. RB Montavious Yeardly ran for 176 yards and QB Drew Sims threw for 348 yards and 3 TDs.
HU Leaders: The HU running game is led by RB Montavious Yearby (28 att, 254 yards, 2 TDs) and RB Branden Short (38 att, 220 yards). QB Drew Sims is 62-of-97 passing for 986 yards and 13 TDs. WR Maceo Matthews (20 rec, 537 yards, 7 TDs) and WR Dimitri Penick (14 rec, 206 yards, 2 TDs) lead the HU receivers. LB Zachary Blackstein, LB Parker Smith, DB Traman Wiles and LB Jacob Rigsby lead the defense with 24, 20, 17 and 17 tackles, respectively. LB Zachary Blackiston has a team-best 4 sacks.
Bendekovic Bowl: Today's game will be the 10th annual Bendekovic Bowl, which honors the late Ronnie and Jason Bendekovic, who served as assistants at ONU and Heidelberg, respectively. HU owns a 7-2 record in the series, but ONU won 34-28 in Ada in 2019.
