Last Year's Meeting: All-American RB Christiaan Williams became the first Ohio Northern player to run for 1,000 yards in three different seasons, leading the Polar Bears to a 49-0 victory. Williams carried the ball 25 times for 218 yards and 3 TDs, giving him a league-leading 1,018 yards through seven games in 2019. QB Anthony McFadden was 11-of-20 passing for 185 yards and three scores for Ohio Northern. LB Mark Niles had a career-high 16 tackles and a pass broken up to lead the ONU defense, which pitched the ninth shutout in Dial-Roberson Stadium history. Ohio Northern limited Capital to 131 yards of total offense, including just 24 yards passing on a 5-of-17 effort with four Polar Bear sacks.
ONU Last Week: All-American Brock Martin ran for 108 yards and the Ohio Northern defense turned in a dominating performance in a season-opening 17-7 victory over Otterbein in Ada. LB Johnny Rupp led an outstanding defensive effort with a career-high 13 tackles. The Polar Bears held the Cardinals to 269 yards of total offense. QB Brody Hahn finished the game 15-of-28 passing for 189 yards and two scores and ran eight times for 57 yards.
ONU Leaders: The Ohio Northern running game is led by All-American RB Brock Martin (26 att, 108 yards) and QB Brody Hahn (8 att, 57 yards). QB Brody Hahn is 15-for-28 passing fopr 189 yards and 2 TDs. WR Austin Eick (3 rec, 31 yards), WR Chase Rose (2 rec, 64 yards, 1 TD) and WR Jette Morgan (2 rec, 53 yards, 1 TD) lead the receivers. LB Johnny Rupp, DL Josh Bever and DL Nichal Johnson lead the defense with 13, 8 and 7 tackles, respectively. Bever leads the team 1.0 sacks and 2.0 TFL.
CU Preview: The Crusaders fell 66-13 at Heidelberg last Friday in their first road game of the season. QB Ben Everson and QB Luke McCarrell each threw TD passes, combining to go 12-of-21 passing for 155 yards. Everson also ran 16 times for 52 yards. WR Mike Smith caught 4 passes for 31 yards and a TD. DL Matt Lauofo had a team-high 9 tackles to lead the CU defense.
