Last Year's Meeting: Ohio Northern built a 31-13 halftime lead and went on to a 45-35 in its 2019 home opener at Dial-Roberson Stadium. All-American RB Christiaan Williams ran for 146 yards and a touchdown on just 12 carries and QB Anthony McFadden completed 15-of-24 passes for 250 yards and four touchdowns for ONU. LB Mark Niles, LB Cairo Smith amnd DL Josh Bever led the ONU defense with 15, 11 and 11 tackles, respectively. Logan Pharmer threw for 153 yards and 2 TDs and Matt Webb ran 17 times for 75 yards for Otterbein.
ONU Preview: The Polar Bears welcome back 32 lettermen and 11 starters from last year's squad that went 6-4 and finished third in the Ohio Athletic Conference with a 6-3 record. Junior All-American Brock Martin leads the list of six returning All-Conference players this season. Martin and sophomore defensive end Josh Bever (Ashland) were First Team All-OAC picks a year ago. Senior receiver Chase Rose and junior kicker Dom DiFalco were Second team All-Conference selections and senior defensive end Jarrett Sitton and junior receiver Austin Eick received Honorable Mention All-Conference honors.
ONU Leaders: The Ohio Northern running game is led by All-American RB Brock Martin (200 att, 917 yards, 15 TDs in his career) and RB Jamir Nunley (2 att, 3 yards in career). QB Brody Hahn has passed for 4,877 yards and 30 TDs in three seasons at Muskingum. WR Austin Eick (45 rec, 799 yards, 13 TDs in career), WR Chase Rose (59 rec, 953 yards, 9 TDs in career) and WR Ryan Rockwell (25 rec, 321 yards, 4 TDs in career) lead the receivers. DL Josh Bever, DL Jarrett Sitton and DL Kedarius Woodfork leads the returners on defense with 54, 49 and 36 tackles, respectively, in 2019. Bever led the team and the OAC with 10.5 sacks and 13 TFL in 2019.
OU Preview: The Cardinals welcome back 12 starters from last year's squad that was 2-8 overall and 2-7 in the OAC ... The offense now expects to return approximately seven starters, while a new-look defense is working to blend some experienced veterans with up-and-coming talent. The linebacker position is deep, and 2017 All-American safety Fred Hardgrove will be giving it a final go-around.
OU Leaders: The OU running game is led by RB Jordan Bost-Floyd (73 att, 389 yards) and RB Mitch Moyer (8 att, 10 yards). QB Logan Pharmer was 120-of-232 passing for 1445 yards and 8 TDs last year. WR Reed Tucker (24 rec, 375 yards, 3 TDs) and RB Jordan Bost-Floyd (18 rec, 88 yards) lead the OU receivers. LB Jacob Tiell, LB Greg Nolder and LB Derrick O'Connor led the defense with 66, 63 and 37 tackles, respectively, in 2019.
