ONU Last Week: Ohio Northern opened its 2018 season with a 34-17 victory over Adrian (Mich.) under the lights at Dial-Roberson Stadium. The Polar Bears got 76 yards rushing and 2 TDs from RB Brock Martin and a key pick-6 by DB Jaymar Hines. LB Mark Niles had a career-high 15 tackles and two PBUs for ONU as well. Adrian controlled play in the early going, holding the ball for 14 of the first 17 minutes and led 7-0 on a 2-yard run with 12:41 left in the half. Northern rallied for three touchdowns in the final 5:26 of the half to take a 20-7 lead into intermission. S Greg Dennis had 11 tackles and a PBU and LB David Haseleu had 10 tackles and a PBU for ONU. Northern out-gained AC 321-306 in total offense.
ONU Leaders: The ONU running game is led by RB Brock Martin (17 att, 76 yards, 2 TDs) and QB Anthony McFadden (10 att, 68 yards). QB Anthony McFadden is 9-of-18 passing for 132 yards and 2 TDs. WR Chad Rex (4 rec, 70 yards, 1 TD) and WR Caleb Saalfeld (3 rec, 52 yards) lead the receiving corps. LB Mark Niles, S Greg Dennis and LB David Haseleu lead the defense with 15, 11 and 10 tackles, respectively.
MU Last Week: The Muskingum football era under Head Coach Erik Ieuter started on Saturday with a season opening 31-24 win at Waynesburg. The Muskies outscored the Yellow Jackets 24-7 in the second half to notch the victory. QB Brody Hahn led the Muskie offense going 14-of-28 for 237 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Muskingum sealed the road win with a seven-play, 65-yard drive that culminated with a Hahn 20-yard touchdown pass to TE end Granger Long with 1:59 on the clock.
MU Leaders: The MU running game is led by RB Bernard Johnson (7 att, 37 yards) and QB Brody Hahn (5 att, 20 yards). QB Brody Hahn is 14-of-28 passing for 237 yards and 3 TDs. Last Year's Game: ONU overcame 5 turnovers and a missed 22-yard field goal with 24 seconds left to defeat Muskingum 7-6. ONU was led by RB Christiaan Williams, who ran 38 times for 168 yards and ONU's only score. MU got 172 yards passing and a TD by QB Brody Hahn. Clinging to a 7-6 lead late, Northern fumbled the ball at the Muskingum 9-yard line with 2:50 left in the game. The Muskies marched 86 yards to the ONU 3-yard line. But a 22-yard field goal with 24 seconds left was wide right and the Polar Bears escaped with the 7-6 victory. ONU head coach Dean Paul became the school's all-time career wins leader with his 94th win as a Polar Bear.
