Senior linebacker Zach Schmerge named OAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season

ADA — Ohio Northern senior linebacker Zach Schmerge (Wapakoneta) has been named the OAC Football Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Schmerge had a game-high 12 tackles (four solo) and recovered a fumble to lead the ONU defense in its 42-25 victory over Baldwin Wallace on Saturday..
It is the fifth time in his career that Schmerge has received the honor. He also won the award on Oct. 30 this season.
The Polar Bears finished with a 7-3 record and were second in the OAC with a 6-3 mark in 2017 under 14th-year head coach Dean Paul.
