Sixteen student-athletes commit to play Football at Ohio Northern in the fall of 2012

ADA — The Ohio Northern football program has announced its first group of the recruits in the 2012 recruiting class. The 16 incoming players represent 4 different states.

"Our retention of returning players has been the best we have had in many years, and this allows us to be very selective." Ohio Northern head coach Dean Paul said. "We are very excited about the quality of student and athlete that we have been able to attract at this point in the process."

Ohio Northern recorded a 6-4 season in 2011. ONU is one of only 10 teams in Division III to finish the season nationally ranked in 6 of the past 8 seasons. The Polar Bears will kick-off their 2012 season on Saturday, Sept. 1, at North Carolina Wesleyan.

Atkinson to Attend Ohio Northern University

Jake Atkinson has committed to attend Ohio Northern University this fall and plans to major in Mechanical Engineering. Atkinson is a transfer from Fort Lewis College and attended Vista Ridge High School in Colorado. He will play safety and wide receiver for the Polar Bears. He was a 3-time All Conference defensive back and 2-time All Conference receiver during his high school career. Jake is the son of Anthony and Sarah. They reside in Colorado Springs, CO.

Briggs to Attend Ohio Northern University

David Briggs has committed to attend Ohio Northern University this fall and major in Business. Briggs attends Lima Bath High School in Ohio. He will kick for the Polar Bears. Following Briggs' senior season he received 2^nd Team All-Conference honors. David is the son of David and Jennifer. They reside in Lima, OH.

Callahan to Attend Ohio Northern University

Brian Callahan has committed to attend Ohio Northern University this fall and major in Engineering. Callahan attends Loveland High School in Ohio. He will play linebacker for the Polar Bears. Brian is the son of Jim and Denise. They reside in Loveland, Ohio.

Chaney to attend Ohio Northern University

Matt Chaney has committed to attend Ohio Northern University this fall and will be studying Pre-Medicine. Chaney attends Bryan High School in Ohio. He will contribute to the special teams as a kicker for the Polar Bears. Chaney received second team all-district honors. Matt is the son of Carl and Kimberly. They reside in Bryan, OH.

Handley to Attend Ohio Northern University

Kyle Handley has committed to attend Ohio Northern University this fall and major in Business. Handley attends Rossford High School in Ohio. He will play on the defensive side of the ball as a linebacker for the Polar Bears. Handley received Honorable Mention all-district honors. Kyle is the son of Edward Engle and Holly Engle. They reside in Rossford, OH.

Joseph to Attend Ohio Northern University

Ethan Joseph has committed to attend Ohio Northern University this fall and major in Finance. Joseph currently attends Marysville High School in Ohio. He will play on the offensive line at center for the Polar Bears. Ethan is the son of Rowdy and Kelly. They reside in Marysville, OH.

Keeler to Attend Ohio Northern University

Darerein Keeler has committed to attend Ohio Northern University this fall and will major in Pre-Medicine or Pharmacy. Keeler attends Harper Creek High School in Michigan. He will play defensive end for the Polar Bears. Keeler received 1^st Team Div. 1 All-State and 1^st Team All-Conference honors.

McCray to Attend Ohio Northern University

Justin McCray has committed to attend Ohio Northern University this fall and major in Sports Management. McCray is a transfer from University of Tennessee Martin and a graduate of Fairfield High School. He will play quarterback for the Polar Bears. McCray passed for 1800 yards and 13 TD's in his final high school campaign. Following his senior season, he received 2^nd Team All-Conference honors. Justin is the son of Bobby and Melissa. They reside in Hamilton, OH.

McCurdy to Attend Ohio Northern University

Jake McCurdy has committed to attend Ohio Northern University this fall and major in Physical Therapy. McCurdy attends Marion Pleasant High School in Ohio. He will play defensive back for the Polar Bears. Jake is the son of Guy and Heather. They reside in Marion, Ohio.

Mickley to Attend Ohio Northern University

Alex Mickley has committed to attend Ohio Northern University this fall and major in Exercise Physiology. Mickley currently attends Hilliard Davidson High School in Ohio. He will play running back for the Polar Bears. Alex ran for 1538 yards and 29 TD's as a junior before an injury caused him to miss 9 games as a senior. Following his junior season he received 2^nd Team Div. 1 All-State honors. Alex is the son of Steven and Kelli. They reside in Hilliard, OH.

Musser to Attend Ohio Northern University

Donny Musser has committed to attend Ohio Northern University this fall and major in Athletic Training. Musser attends Smithville High School in Ohio. He will line up on the offensive line at center, and also long snap for the Polar Bears. Donny is the son of Scott and Krista. They reside in Orrville, Ohio.

Notarberidino to Attend Ohio Northern University

Nathan Notarberidino has committed to attend Ohio Northern University this fall and major in Criminal Justice. King attends Bay High School in Ohio. He will suit up at linebacker for the Polar Bears. During his high school career, Notarberidino received 2^nd team All-Conference honors. Nathan is the son of Mark and Celinda. They reside in Bay Village, OH.

Seballos to Attend Ohio Northern University

Rody Seballos has committed to attend Ohio Northern University this fall and major in Bio Chemistry. Seballos attends Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School in Ohio. He will play on the offensive line for the Polar Bears. During his high school career, Seballos 2^nd team All-Conference honors. Rody is the son of Ronald and Julie. They reside in Brecksville, OH.

Shell to Attend Ohio Northern University

Logan Shell has committed to attend Ohio Northern University this fall and major in Business. Shell attends Brookville High School in Ohio. He will play on the offensive line for the Polar Bears. Shell had 11 sacks and 7 tackles for loss. Logan is the son of Melissa Steinke. They reside in Brookville, OH.

Stephenson to Attend Ohio Northern University

Danny Stephenson has committed to attend Ohio Northern University this fall and major in Construction Management. Stephenson attends Plymouth Senior High School in Indiana. He will play linebacker for the Polar Bears. During his high school career, Stephenson received All-Conference honors. Danny is the son of Daniel and Colleen. They reside in Argos, IN.

Stout to Attend Ohio Northern University

Trent Stout has committed to attend Ohio Northern University this fall and will major in Engineering. Stout attends Fremont Ross High School in Ohio. He will play on the defensive line for the Polar Bears. During his high school career, Stout received All-Conference Honors 3 times and was also a 2-time Team Captain. Trent is the son of Paul and Cindy. They reside in Fremont, OH.
