Senior Chad Coward named OAC Defensive Player of the Week
ADA — Senior safety Chad Coward (Crestline/Shelby) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts Saturday in Ohio Northern's 38-20 victory at Capital.
Coward had two interceptions (which he returned a combined 80 yards), blocked an extra point and added three tackles for the Polar Bears (3-2 overall, 2-2 OAC).
Coward's two interceptions give him 11 for his career, tying him for seventh all-time on ONU's career list.
This marks the second time in his career that Coward has received this award, as he also received the honor on Sept. 27, 2010.
This season, Coward is second on the team with 43 tackles after leading tyhe squad a year ago with 81 stops.
He is ONU's active career leader with 159 tackles.
The Polar Bears will return to action this Saturday with a 2 pm contest at Baldwin-Wallace at George Finnie Stadium in Berea.
