Football receives votes in weekly D3Football.com, AFCA polls
ADA — The Ohio Northern football team received votes in the latest weekly 2011 D3Football.com and American Football Coaches Association polls.
The Polar Bears (2-2 overall, 1-2 Ohio Athletic Conference) fell 14-6 to No. 2-ranked Mount Union on Saturday at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
In the D3Football.com poll, Northern was ranked No. 24 last week, was No. 24 in the fourth weekly poll, was No. 9 in the third poll, No. 12 in the second weekly poll, No. 13 in the first weekly poll and was No. 14 in the D3Football.com Preseason poll after finishing No. 8 in the final 2010 D3Football.com poll.
ONU received 39 points (tied for 26th) in this week's poll, 54 less than the 93 points it received in the week four poll.
Two-time defending national champion Wisconsin-Whitewater is No. 1, receiving 621 points and 21 first place votes.
Ohio Athletic Conference rival Mount Union is second with 604 points and the four remaining first place votes, Saint Thomas (Minn.) is third with 566 points and Mary Hardin-Baylor (Tex.) is fourth with 557 points.
In the AFCA poll, ONU received 63 points, 26 less than the 89 points it received in the second weekly poll.
ONU was No. 25 in last week's poll and was No. 9 in the first weekly poll.
Wisconsin-Whitewater is No. 1, receiving 1048 points and 40 first place votes, Mount Union is second with 1008 points and the two remaining first place votes, Mary Hardin-Baylor (Tex.) is third with 933 points and Saint Thomas (Minn.) is fourth with 931 points.
Ohio Northern will take to the road Saturday to face Capital in a 1:30 pm game at Bexley.
