BEREA, OHIO - The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team lost to Ohio Athletic Conference rival Ohio Northern University, 1-0, today (Wednesday, October 15, 2008) on Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea.

B-W falls to 5-5-3 and 2-2 in the OAC, while Ohio Northern improves 9-4-1 and 3-1 in OAC play.

Ohio Northern scored the only goal of the match when Kaitlin Sanders scored off a pass from Alyssa Merrick at the 26:31 mark of the first half.  The score would remain 1-0 in favor of the Polar Bears for the remainder of the match.

In goal for B-W, sophomore Becky Miner (Berea) played all 90 minutes and faced 18 ONU shots and made 10 saves, which ties her season high.  Her season record stands at 5-5-3.

Ohio Northern won the battle of shots, 18-5, and corner kicks, 8-0.

After 13 matches in 2008, the Yellow Jackets are led in scoring by junior forward Natalie Fox (Canfield), who has three goals and one assists for seven total points.  Senior midfielder Allie Wojtkun (North Olmsted/ Magnificat) and sophomore midfielder Vickie Dreiling (Boardman/Cardinal Mooney) also have three goals and freshman forward Brittany Thomas (Westerville/ Central) has two goals and two assists - giving all three six points in 2008.

BW returns to action on Saturday, October 18 when it travels to New Concord, Ohio to take on Ohio Athletic Conference rival Muskingum College at 2:30 p.m. in the second game of a men's and women's soccer doubleheader.  The BW and Muskingum men play at 12:00 noon.
