BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College men's soccer team ties Ohio Athletic Conference rival Ohio Northern University,1-1 , in double overtime tonight (Saturday, October 16, 2010) on the pitch of Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea. This was the second game of a women's and men's doubleheader on "Kick It for the Cure" Day.
With its tie, B-W is now 8-5-3 overall and 1-3-1 in the OAC and next plays on Wednesday (Oct. 21) when it travels to Alliance, Ohio to play the University of Mount Union at 7:00 p.m. With its tie, the Polar Bears are now 12-3-1 overall and 4-0-1 OAC.
The two teams battled to a scoreless first half.
Ohio Northern was first to tally a goal when Cameron Johnson hit a low liner to the near post off the assist from Chaz McCullah at 57:31 of the second stanza. The Yellow Jackets evened the score 1-1 when senior midfielder Jeff Grater (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) buried a shot in the upper 90 at the 78:56 mark. The goal marked his first tally of the season.
BW outshot the Polar Bears, 23-16, but loss the corner battle 7-2.
In goal, sophomore Ryan Hulings (Centerville) faced 16 ONU shots and made five saves.
On Saturday, October 30, the doubleheader between B-W and OAC rival Muskingum University will be taped and then shown on a delay basis by regional cable network SportsTime Ohio (www.sportstimeohio.com). The women's game begins at 4:30 p.m. and men play at 7:00 p.m. The women's game will be shown on October 30 at 9:00 p.m. and again on Monday, November 1 at 5:00 a.m. The men's game will be aired on Sunday, Oct. 31 at 3:30 p.m. and on Monday, Nov. 1 at 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.
