Stella DeWitt wins the Long Jump, leads Women's Track and Field to solid fourth place finish at 14-team Muskingum Invitational

NEW CONCORD — Sophomore Stella DeWitt (Weston/Cardinal Stritch) won the long jump with a leap of 5.31 meters to lead the Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team to a solid fourth place finish at the 14-team Muskingum Amy Adams Memorial Invitational on Saturday at McConagha Stadium.
The Polar Bears (10-3 overall) scored 93 points in their outdoor season opener.
Senior Tia Harris (Newton Falls) and junior Taylor Lavey (New Baltimore, Mich./Findlay) each posted two top-5 finishes.
Harris was third in the discus with a toss of 37.14 meters was fourth shot put with a heave of 12.40 meters and Lavey was third in the 100-meter dash in :13.07 and was fourth in the 200 in :27.02.
Sophomore Kylie Vestal (Youngstown/Austintown Fitch) was second in the 2000 steeplechase in 7:45.93.
Three other ONU athletes posted fourth place finishes.
Senior Sydney McCluer (Columbus Grove) was fourth in the 400 hurdles in 1:08.30, sophomore Megan Wright (Eaton/Twin Valley South) was fourth in the 1500 in 4:59.20 and freshman Kimberly Kramer (Green) was fourth in the 100 hurdles in :16.82.
Freshman Kayla Silva wrapped up ONU's individual top-5 finishes with a fifth place performance in the 100 dash in :13.16.
Case Western Reserve won the meet with 115 points, Malone was second with 97 points and Ohio Wesleyan was third with 95 points.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday at the Emory (Ga.) Invitational.
