Women's Swimming and Diving wraps up home schedule with sweep of Ohio Wesleyan, Bluffton in tri-meet

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving team wrapped up its home schedule with a tri-meet sweep of Ohio Wesleyan and Bluffton in a home tri-meet on Friday night.
The Polar Bears defeated Ohio Wesleyan 117-77 and topped Bluffton 140-46. OWU defeated BU 133-42 to complete the tri-meet.

- Senior Katie Bend (Carmel, Ind.) won the 1000-yard free in 11:39.71.
- Junior Mara Brown (Fremont/Ross) won the 100 fly in 1:03.28.
- Senior Shelby Starkey (Bellefontaine) won the 100 back in 1:01.27.
- Junior Hannah Eversole (Cincinnati/Mount Notre Dame) won the 500 free in 5:56.11.
- Eversole, Brown, junior Morgan Fernandez (Huber Heights/Wayne) and junior Annie Richters (Troy/Miami East) opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay in 1:58.12.
- Richters, freshman Ashleigh Nelson (Byron Center, Mich.), junior Sydney Selinsky (Dover/Tuscarawas Central Catholic), and Starkey finished the meet by winning the 200 free relay in 1:47.51.
Notables
- The meet consisted of 13 events, including nine individual races, two relays and two diving events.
- Ohio Northern won just six of the 13 events but used overwhelming depth to push to the victories.
- The meet is the ninth of 11 regular-season contests for Ohio Northern.
- Austin Veltman is now 26-26 in his sixth season as head coach of the Polar Bears.
