Bio

Austin Veltman is in his sixth season as the head men's and women's swimming and diving coach at Ohio Northern in 2023-24.

In the 2021-22 season, he guided the men's program to a 5-3 overall record, including a 4-0 conference mark, and a second-place finish at the OAC Championships. Meanwhile, the women's program ended the year with a 6-4 overall record, including a 4-0 league mark, and a second-place finish at the OAC Championships. The season marked the first for either squad to go unbeaten in conference dual meets.

In the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons, Veltman coached Holden Cubberley to back-to-back OAC titles in both 1- and 3-meter diving and two straight OAC Diver of the Year accolades. Cubberley also qualified for the 2022 NCAA Division III Diving Championships.

At the 2023 OAC Championships, Cubberley broke his own school record in 3-meter diving with a score of 527.30 and broke the school and conference records in 1-meter diving with a score of 524.35. Selby Wilt also set a new school record, doing so in the 50 free with a time of :20.34.

Veltman and his assistant coach Erin Chrissobolis, were named the OAC Women's Coaching Staff of the Year in 2021.

In his three seasons at ONU, Veltman's men's teams are 23-13 overall and 15-5 in OAC action, while his women's teams are 20-20 overall and 13-7 in OAC competition. Combined, he owns an overall record of 43-33 and a conference mark of 28-12 at ONU.

Before coming to Ohio Northern, he was the head swimming and diving coach at Hiram in 2017-18.

Veltman was also an assistant coach for five seasons at Hope (Mich.) and an assistant coach for one year at Forest Hills (Mich.) High School.

He earned his bachelor's degree in business management from Hope in 2011.

While at Hope, Veltman was a four-year letterman for the Flying Dutchmen and helped HC win three MIAA championships.

Veltman currently resides in Findlay.
