Women's Swimming & Diving team sets OAC record in 200 free relay on Day 1 of 2015 OAC Championships

AKRON — Ohio Northern set a conference and school record in the 200 free relay on Day 1 of the three-day 2015 Women's Ohio Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships Thursday at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium.
The 200 free relay team of junior Lindsey Inkrott, junior Allison Lohnes, junior Stephanie Brookens and sophomore Jill Chapman broke the OAC and ONU records with an NCAA "B" Cut time of 1:35.80.
After five of 20 events, Mount Union leads the team standings with 201 points, John Carroll is second with 171 points and Ohio Northern s third with 167 points.
Lohnes added an All-OAC honor in the 200 I.M. for the second straight year, finishing second in a school record 2:09.08.
In the 50 free, Chapman earned All-Conference accolades for the second time in her career, finishing second in an NCAA "B" Cut :23.52.
Her prelim time of :23.64 Friday afternoon was an OAC record at the time, but that was broken by defending champion Meghan Taylor of Transylvania (Ky.) in the finals in :23.34.
Senior Ashley Zoeller earned All-OAC kudos with a third place finish in the 500 free for the second time in her career, finishing third in 5:16.54.
In the final event of the day, ONU touched first in the 400 medley relay in 3:55.99, but was disqualified, taking 40 points off the board for the Polar Bears.
The Polar Bears have won six straight OAC titles and seven OAC Championship crowns overall.
Day 2 will be on Friday and Day 3 will be on Saturday.
