Seniors Kristy Catrine and Jeremy Adams named Ohio Northern’s Clyde Lamb Award winners

ADA — Seniors Kristy Catrine (Springboro) and Jeremy Adams (Ypsilanti, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer) were named as Ohio Northern's Clyde Lamb Award winners for 2021-22.
The Clyde A. Lamb Awards are presented annually to 10 male and 10 female student-athletes representing each of the Ohio Athletic Conference institutions and is the highest honor granted by the league.
All 20 recipients were recognized at the 38th annual OAC Awards Banquet on Monday on the campus of Otterbein University.
Criteria for the award includes at least two years participation in an OAC-sponsored sport, senior status, a minimum grade point average of 3.00 and sportsmanlike conduct in a manner that has brought credit to the student-athlete and his or her institution.
Catrine is a two-time OAC Goalkeeper of the Year, earning the honor as a member of the All-OAC First Team in 2020 and 2021. She was also named to the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association All-Ohio First Team and United Soccer Coaches All-Region 7 First Team this season.
The two-time All-OAC Tournament Team selection and six-time OAC Player of the Week honoree led the conference with 14 wins, 12 shutouts and an .831 save percentage in the 2021 season, and her 0.67 GAA ranked second in the league. Her 12 shutouts and 0.67 GAA rank third and sixth, respectively, on ONU's all-time single-season record list.
The Polar Bears won the OAC Tournament championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament this season en route to finishing with a record of 14-5-3 under 18th-year head coach Mark Batman.
Catrine helped lead the Polar Bears to two OAC Regular Season and OAC Tournament titles and a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances in her career, and her 0.09 GAA in the 2020 season is a school record. She has a career record of 22-6-5 with 105 saves, a 0.47 GAA and .868 save percentage with 20 shutouts, which ranks tied for fifth in program history.
A two-time Academic All-OAC, United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American and CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team selection, Catrine was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team as a junior and earned a spot on the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association Academic All-Ohio First Team this season. She boasts a 3.95 GPA as a pharmacy major.
Adams helped lead the Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving team to a perfect 4-0 record in regular-season conference dual meets and a second-place finish at the OAC Championships this season under fourth-year head coach Austin Veltman. He was named OAC Men's Swimmer of the Week five times and had six All-OAC finishes.
Adams has 16 All-OAC finishes, six NCAA B cut times and a CSCAA All-American accolade in his career and holds school records in the 100 breaststroke, 100 freestyle and 200 free relay.
A three-time Academic All-OAC selection, Adams boasts a 3.91 GPA as a mechanical engineering major with a minor in mathematics.
The Clyde Lamb Award was founded in 1985 and is named in honor of Clyde A. Lamb, who organized the department of health and physical education at Ohio Northern University in 1929 and served as a coach, department chairman and athletics director at ONU from 1929-64. He continued to teach full-time until his death in 1969.
Lamb, who received his bachelor's degree from Coe College in 1923 and a master's degree from Columbia University in 1929, coached numerous sports at Ohio Northern during his tenure. In 1959, he was elected to the NAIA Helms Hall of Fame. He was honored as Ada's Distinguished Citizen in 1956 and was inducted into Ohio Northern's Athletic Hall of Fame in 1969.
