ADA — Senior Chelsea Chadwick scored her first goal of the season in the 15th minute to lead the No. 18 Ohio Northern women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Baldwin-Wallace, Saturday afternoon at the ONU Soccer Field.
In addition to honoring their five senior leaders, the Polar Bears extended their unbeaten streak to 11 games, which is a new school record. The win was also head coach Mark Batman's 100th victory as ONU coach.
Northern is now 11-1-2 overall and a perfect 5-0-0 in the OAC, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 8-7-1 and 1-4-0 in the conference.
Chadwick's goal was assisted by freshman Kristina Klusek, as Chadwick took the passed ball and dribbled up the left sideline and rocketed a shot into the net.
Sophomore Abbie Schauble scored her second goal of the season in the 49th minute when she took a pass from senior Alyssa Merrickand blasted it into the top right corner of the goal.
The assist was Merrick's OAC leading 10th of the year.
Junior goalie Erin Waehner made four saves on the day and notched her fourth-straight shutout and her seventh of the season.
"I was very happy with how we played today," Batman said. "We adjusted to the elements very well and will now move on and focus on our next opponent, Wilmington."
Ohio Northern will be in action again on Tuesday when the team hosts the Quakers at 4 p.m.
