Senior All-American Ian McVey named OAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year for the third consecutive season

ADA — Ohio Northern senior All-American Ian McVey (Stow/Munroe Falls) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year for the third consecutive season in 2018 in voting conducted by the league's head coaches.
McVey won his second consecutive OAC title this season, defeating the field by more than 15 seconds in 26:04.
He is a two-time All-American, finishing fifth this season and 10th last season at the NCAA Division III Championships, crossing the line in 24:37 in both races.
McVey was also named the Great Lakes Region Runner of the Year by the United Stated Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the second consecutive season this fall.
He won the individual title at the Great Lakes Region Championships in a course record 24:52.5, notching his second regional title in a row.
McVey was also named National Athlete of the Week during the regular season.
His career-low 24:23 at this season's All-Ohio Championships makes him the second-fastest runner in ONU men's cross country history.
The Polar Bears finished 97-29 overall, were third at the OAC Championships and finished 10th of 38 at the NCAA III Great Lakes Regional this season under 10th-year head coach Jason Maus.
