Men's 4x400-meter relay finishes 11th in prelims at NCAA III Championships
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Ohio Northern 4x400-meter relay team of senior Hunter Kesler (Oakwood/Paulding), junior Trey Myers (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne) and sophomores Ross Schlatter (Curtice/Genoa) and Jordan Dean (Euclid/Villa Angela Saint Joseph) finished 11th with a time of 3:14.07 on Thursday at the NCAA Division III Championships at St. John Fisher's Polisseni Track and Field Complex.
The top two teams in each heat and the next four fastest times qualified for finals on Saturday.
The Polar Bears did not qualify for finals, but their time was the second-fastest in program history. The same team set the school record just two weeks ago at Baldwin Wallace with a time of 3:12.86.
"I'm really proud of our effort today. We were in the race and had a chance to get into the final," ONU head coach Jason Maus said. "It was all of these guys' first national meet, and I'm happy with how they competed."
The Polar Bears return to Polisseni Track on Friday where junior Keegan Digby (Bowling Green/Otsego) will compete for his third All-America honor in the shot put at 1 p.m. and Dean will run in the prelims of the 400-meter dash at 5:30 p.m.
