Digby wins shot put, Dean sets school record in 200 to lead Men’s Indoor Track and Field at Wittenberg Invitational

SPRINGFIELD — Sophomore Keegan Digby (Bowling Green/Otsego) set a new personal-best mark in the shot put Saturday to win the event in leading the Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team at the Wittenberg Invitational at Steemer Fieldhouse.
Digby threw a distance 51-3.75 (15.64 meters) in the shot put, surpassing his previous best mark of 49-11.75 and moving him up to second place in program history.
Senior Nate Dean (Euclid/Villa Angela-Saint Joseph) also fared well, breaking his own school record in the 200 by :00.02 with a time of :22.07 to place second in the event at Saturday's meet.
Junior Hunter Kesler (Oakwood/Paulding) wasn't far behind in the 200, crossing the line in :22.23 for third place while setting a new personal-best that ranks second in program history.
Freshman Ozzie Miller (Dalton) placed second in the 60 meters, finishing in a time of :07.09.
Miller joined senior Christian Booze (Bellevue) and freshmen Sam Fisher (Akron/Revere) and Mitchel Vance (Bellefontaine/Benjamin Logan) on ONU's 800 relay team that placed third with a time of 1:34.95.
Sophomore David Gross (Prospect/Pleasant Local) also finished third, posting a time of :51.10 in the 400, and freshman Tyrese Barker (Reynoldsburg/Bishop Hartley) added a third-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 6-0.75.
The Polar Bears added six more top-five finishes.
Sophomore Trey Myers (Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne) placed fourth in the 800 with a time of 1:55.28, and sophomore Brandon Wise (Goshen, Ind./Concord) added a fourth-place finish in the pole vault with a height of 13-5.25.
Freshman Jordan Dean (Euclid/Villa Angela-Saint Joseph) placed fourth in the 60 meters with a time of :07.115, finishing just ahead of junior Vini Souza (Spencerville) in fifth with a time of :07.120.
Junior Brandt Marshall (Hancock County/Cory-Rawson) placed fifth in the pole vault with a height of 13-5.25, and fifth-year senior Jack Lehr (York, Pa./Dallastown) added a fifth-place finish in the shot put with a distance of 46-4.75.
Saturday's event was not team scored.
On Friday, the Polar Bears sent their 4x400 relay team of Nate Dean, Jordan Dean, Kesler and senior Sam Krabacher (Hamilton/Badin) to the Flag City Open at the University of Findlay. The team placed second, posting a season-best time of 3:20.68.
The Polar Bears return to action on Friday and Saturday at the OAC Championships at Mount Union.
