Sam Krabacher leads a 1-2-3 finish in the mile as Men's Indoor Track and Field opens 2019 season at Tiffin Open

TIFFIN — Sophomore Sam Krabacher (Hamilton/Badin) led a 1-2-3 finish in the mile run, leading the Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team in its 2019 season opener at the Tiffin Open on Friday night at the Heminger Center.
Krabacher finished in 4:33.42, just ahead of junior Andrew Shelton (Williamsville, N.Y./South), who was second in 4:34.04, and sophomore Jordan Green (Wooster), who was third in 4:34.30.
In all, nine teams competed in the non-scoring event.
Sophomore Travis Sutter (Fort Recovery) led a 2-3-4 Polar Bear finish in the 3,000-meter run, finishing second in 9:06.37.
Senior Spencer Schulze (St. Henry) was third in 9:11.34 and senior John McNutt (Ashtabula/Lakeside) was fourth in 9:12.69.
Junior Riley Lamison (Beaver, Pa/Beaver Area) was second in the 800-meter run in 2:05.84.
Junior Noah McKee (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) was fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 12.34 meters and freshman Luke Shellhaas (Greenville/Versailles) was fifth in the pole vault, clearing 4.24 meters.
The distance medley relay team of Jackson Brandstaetter (Pickerington/North), freshman Alan Dravenstott (Medina), sophomore Alessandro Tramontano (Mayfield) and Jack Borden (Westerville/North) were fourth in 11:13.55.
Dravenstott also finished ninth in the 800 in 2:09.59.
Sophomore Matt Bradshaw (Cleveland/Norton) also posted two top-10 finishes, placing eighth in the shot put (14.01 meters) and placing ninth in the weight throw (15.29m).
Sophomore Cade Saunders (Marysville) was seventh in the high jump, clearing 1.74 meters.
The 4x400 relay team of sophomore Colin McCullough (Galion), freshman Cade Harshbarger (Covington), Shelton and Krabacher ended the meet with a second place finish in 3:34.51.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Jan. 26 at the Findlay Classic.
