Cubberley completes sweep of diving events as Men's Swimming and Diving finishes third at Calvin (Mich.) Quad Meet

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — Junior Holden Cubberley (Celina) swept the diving events by winning the 3-meter diving competition on Saturday to lead the Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving team to a third place finish on Saturday on the final day of the two-day Calvin (Mich.) Quad Meet at the Venema Aquatic Center.

Saturday's Highlights
- The Polar Bears finished third with 630.5 points over the meet's 20 events.
- Cubberley scored 463.80 points over 11 dives to win the 3-meter diving competition, finishing first of seven divers.
- Sophomore Aiden Magoolaghan (Hinckley/Highland) led the Polar Bear swimmers on Saturday with a fourth place finish in the 100 back in :56.29. He was also on all three of ONU's top-finishing relay teams on the day.
- Senior Charlie Spyker (Harrod/Shawnee) was fifth in the 100 back in :56.62 and was eighth in the 200 back in 2:07.12.
- Sophomore Long Huynh (Billings, Mt./West) was fifth in the 200 fly in 2:00.63 and was eighth in the 400 I.M. in 4:24.76.
- Freshman Nathan Herbert (Medina/Highland) was fifth in the 1650 free in 17:36.39.
- Sophomore Tyler Edmonds (Youngsville, La./Southside) has a pair of seventh place finishes - in the 400 I.M. in 4:24.58 and the 200 breast in 2:16.70.
- Sophomore Simon Bopple (Cleveland/Shaker Heights) was seventh in the 200 back in 2:07.03.
- Junior Brady Horgan (New Richmond/McNicholas) was eighth in the 100 free in :48.64.
- Sophomore Selby Wilt (Findlay) finished 10th in the 100 free in :49.24.
- Freshman Evan Miller (Cincinnati/La Salle) was 10th in the 20 fly in 2:09.73.
- The morning began with the 200 medley relay team of Magoolaghan, sophomore Nathan Clark (Cleves/Elder), Wilt and Horgan finished fifth in 1:38.14.
- Herbert, Edmonds, Magoolaghan and Spyker wrapped up the morning session with a seventh place finish in 7:30.86.
- Wrapping up the meet Saturday afternoon, Magoolaghan, junior Brandon Parkins (DuPont, Wash./Steilacoom), Edmonds and sophomore Isaac Reddy (Maryland Heights, Mo./Pattonville) was fifth in the 400 free relay in 3:18.40.
- Calvin (Mich.) won the team title with 2053.5 points, Carthage (Wis.) was second with 827 points and Albion (Mich.) was fourth with 247 points.
Notables
- The meet consisted of 20 events over three sessions, including 13 individual races, five relays and 2 diving events.
- There were 6 events on Friday, eight on Saturday morning and six more in the final session on Saturday afternoon.
- The meet is the fifth of 11 regular season contests for Ohio Northern.
- Austin Veltman is now 27-14 in his sixth season as head coach of the Polar Bears.
