Women's Cross Country receives votes in USTFCCCA Week 5 poll

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's cross country team received votes in the USTFCCCA NCAA Division III National Coaches Poll for Week 5, which was released on Wednesday.
The Polar Bears (60-9 overall) received nine points in the poll, placing them first among the teams in the "Also receiving votes" category and 36th overall after being ranked 35th in the Week 4 poll.
SUNY Geneseo remains No. 1 in the poll with 350 points and all 10 first-place votes. Wartburg (Iowa) is second with 340 points, and Chicago (Ill.) is third with 330 points.
Additionally, ONU is ranked No. 5 in the Great Lakes Region, trailing Hope (Mich.), Calvin (Mich.), John Carroll and Case Western Reserve.
The Polar Bears are coming off a ninth-place finish of 36 teams at the Pre-National Meet at Forest Akers East Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich., on Sept. 1. Northern finished behind eight other nationally ranked teams.
ONU returns to action on Saturday at the Oberlin Region Rumble.
