Volleyball picks up first OAC win with 3-1 victory at Muskingum
NEW CONCORD — The Ohio Northern volleyball team picked up its first Ohio Athletic Conference victory Tuesday night over host Muskingum, defeating the Muskies 25-23, 25-19, 20-25, 25-22.
The Polar Bears improve to 8-9 overall and 1-0 in conference, while the Muskies fall to 10-8 and 0-1 in the OAC.
Three different players posted double-digit kills for Northern, including sophomores Kristen Davidson and Cenzie Yoder leading the way with 13 kills each. Freshman Rachel Olach contributed 11 kills and a team-high five blocks.
Sophomore Jeni Kmic led the defense with a match-high 30 digs. Junior Ellen Grenert recorded 23 digs, while sophomore Hannah Livengood added 11 digs and two aces.
Freshmen setters Amanda Volosin and Hannah English both saw action during the contest and dished out 29 and 20 assists, respectively.
McKenzie Smith led the way for the Muskies with 14 kills, 23 assists, eight digs and five blocks.
The Polar Bears will return to action Saturday, when they host conference foe Mount Union at the ONU Sports Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
