Women's Tennis runs win streak to eight with scoring break victories over Wisconsin-La Crosse and Minnesota State-Moorhead

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team ran its winning streak to eight consecutive matches and improved to 4-0 on its annual spring break trip with a 6-3 victory over Wisconsin-La Crosse and a 4-3 victory over NCAA Division II foe Minnesota State-Moorhead on Wednesday.

Match v Wisconsin-La Crosse - W, 6-3
- The Polar Bears swept the three doubles courts and split the six singles courts to post the win.
- Sophomores Abby Cruser (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) and Jamie Hurst (Granger, Ind./Penn) won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles.
- Sophomore Jenna Bell (Latrobe, Pa.) and junior Julianne Sheldon (Ashtabula/Saint John) won 8-6 at No. 2 doubles and
- Juniors Miranda Wills (Ada) and Katie O'Connell (Novi, Mich./Saint Catherine) won 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.
- Cruser won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 and freshman Molly McLane (Westerville/Big Walnut) followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 to put ONU ahead 4-1.
- Bell wrapped things up with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1.
- The Eagles won at Nos. 2, 4 and 5 singles.
Match v Minnesota State-Moorhead - W, 4-3
- The Polar Bears won two of the three doubles courts and three of the singles courts to post the win.
- The match was scored on a 7-point system used by NCAA Division I and II schools with the three doubles courts counting for just one team point.
- Bell and Sheldon won 6-3 at No. 2 doubles and Wills and O'Connell won 7-5 at No. 3 doubles as the Polar Bears led 1-0 after doubles.
- Cruser gave ONU a 2-0 lead with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles.
- The Dragons won at No. 1 to pull within 2-1.
- Hurst then won 6-4, 0-6, 10-7 at No. 2 and McLane won 6-2, 6-2 to clinch the match with ONU up 4-1.
- MSUM won the Nos 4 and 5 courts to finish the match.
- O'Connell finished off the victory with a 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles.

- Cruser and Bell each went 3-1 on the day to lead ONU.
- Cruser and McLane each went 2-0 in singles play, while Bell was 1-1 in singles and 2-0 in doubles.
