Women's Tennis runs win streak to eight with 9-0 sweep of Muskingum

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's tennis team extended its winning streak to eight consecutive matches and stayed undefeated in the Ohio Athletic Conference with a 9-0 victory over Muskingum on Friday afternoon indoors at the Westwood Tennis and Fitness Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 11-3 overall and are 2-0 in the OAC, while the Muskies fall to 1-5, 0-3.
Northern swept the doubles courts to jump to a quick 3-0 lead, only dropping two games in the process.
Freshmen Abby Cruser (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) and freshman Jenna Bell (Latrobe, Pa.) won 8-0 at No. 1 doubles, sophomore Julianne Sheldon (Ashtabula/Saint John) and freshman Jamie Hurst (Granger, Ind./Penn) won 8-0 at No. 2 and senior Flo Sanchez (West Chester/Lakota West) and sophomore Victoria Santana (Humacao, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Antonio Abad) won 8-2 at No. 3.
ONU then swept the six singles courts, winning all but four games, to seal the victory.
Cruser won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1, Hurst won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2, Bell won won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3, senior Regan Landis (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4, junior Olivia Kesner (Lima/Central Catholic) won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 and sophomore Katie O'Connell (Novi, Mich./Saint Catherine) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
The Polar Bears return to action on Monday at John Carroll.
