Women’s Tennis defeats Macalester (Minn.) 5-4 to complete unbeaten spring break schedule

ORLANDO, Fla. — A late singles win from senior Regan Landis (Elkhart, Ind./Concord) clinched a 5-4 victory over Macalester (Minn.) for the Ohio Northern women's tennis team on Friday at the USTA Courts.
The win completed a perfect 5-0 spring break trip for the Polar Bears (8-3 overall) while dropping the Scots to 7-3.
Northern opened the match by winning two of the three doubles courts to take a 2-1 lead into singles play.
Freshmen Jenna Bell (Latrobe, Pa.) and Abby Cruser (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) won 8-4 at No. 1 doubles, and sophomore Julianne Sheldon (Ashtabula/Saint John) and freshman Jamie Hurst (Granger, Ind./Penn) won 8-7(6) at No. 2.
On the singles courts, Cruser won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1, and sophomore Katie O'Connell (Novi, Mich./Saint Catherine) won 7-6(5), 1-6, 10-6 at No. 6 before Landis won the clincher 6-3, 6-7(5), 13-11 in a 3-plus-hour match at No. 3.
The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday, March 25, to open their Ohio Athletic Conference schedule hosting Marietta.
